On November 28, 2007, OU Kosher is coming to Edmonton to participate in the annual “Yeshiva for a Day” seminar, presented by the Beth Israel Congregation Family Shul and Edmonton Jewish General Education (EDJGE). The visit is part of the program OU Kosher Is Coming…, in which the Orthodox Union dispatches its OU Kosher rabbis far and wide to educate kosher consumers wherever they may dwell.
Rabbi Yisroel Bendelstein, OU Rabbinic Coordinator and specialist in baked goods, and Rabbi Avrohom Stone, Senior Rabbinic Field Representative, will lead presentations about the intricacies of kosher certification and will answer questions. Discussion topics will include: “Living, Breathing…and Even Eating Kosher;” “Making Sense of the Kosher Bakery Scent;” “24 Hours, 24 Roles: The Many Hats of an OU Mashgiach;” and “Hidden Facts, Hidden Problems: The Real Story behind Ingredient Panels.”
“We were gratified to receive the request from the Edmonton community to share our popular OU Kosher Is Coming program. Rabbi Stone and Rabbi Bendelstein, both seasoned OU Kosher professionals as well as fine educators, will enable participants to learn about many aspects of kosher certification,” declared the director of the program, Rabbi Dr. Eliyahu Safran, Senior Rabbinic Coordinator/Vice President of Marketing and Communications of OU Kosher.
An early bird fee of $18 is available for those who register before December 20. The regular cost will be $25 for people who sign up after that date or at the door. To reserve tickets or to find out more information call the synagogue 780-488-2840 or visit http://www.familyshul.org.
