Make-in-the-Pan Chocolate Cake

Ingredients

  • 1½ cups sifted flour
  • 3 Tablespoons cocoa
  • 1 teaspoon soda
  • 1 cup sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 5 Tablespoon cooking oil
  • 1 Tablespoon vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup cold water
  • ¼ to ½ cup confectioner's sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Put sifted flour into sifter. Add the cocoa, soda, sugar and salt; sift into 9x9x2-inch cake pan.
  3. Make 3 grooves in dry mixture; into one pour oil, into a second pour vinegar and vanilla into the third groove.
  4. Pour cold water over all.
  5. Beat with a spoon until it’s nearly smooth and you can’t see the flour.
  6. Bake for 30 minutes.
  7. Remove from oven and let cool to room temperature.
  8. Sift the powdered sugar over the cake.
