Coming on the heels of its successful program in Lakewood in February, which was attended by nearly 1,000 people, the Orthodox Union’s Harry H. Beren ASK OUTREACH program returns to Lakewood to continue its mission of educating future mashgichim and those already serving as mashgichim who wish to strengthen their kashrut skills. The next installment of ASK OUTREACH continues with a series of informative and enjoyable discussions led by leading kashrut experts to take place on Motzei Shabbat, December 6, December 13, January 10, and January 17, at Yeshiva Tifereth Torah, 75 East End Avenue.
Kosher Today, a publication dedicated to the community of kosher food and beverage professionals, noted that the recently held “successful ASK OU (summer) program drew participants from as far away as Jerusalem, Berlin, and Paris.” This is a testimony to the international sterling reputation ASK OU programs, of which ASK OUTREACH is an outgrowth, have acquired.
Rabbi Yosef Grossman, OU Director of Kashrut Education, declared, “There is a noticeable thirst for accurate kashrut information in the Lakewood Torah community. We observed this first hand at the massive turnout of close to 1,000 people at ASK OUTREACH’s inaugural kashrut shiur last year entitled Shaylos in Treifus and Nikkur. This was followed by numerous communications to the OU to follow up on that shiur with a series of kashrut shiurim on various topics of interest. In response to these requests, the OU is pleased to present this series of eight fascinating ASK OUTREACH presentations by some of the leading experts in the field of kashrut.”
The first event, December 6, will feature two discussions. At 8:30, Rabbi Dov Schreier will speak on, “Eating Out – What Could be the Problem?! Restaurants, Shabbos, Catered Affair.” At 9:30, Rabbi Chaim Loike will speak on, “Kosher Birds and Eggs: A Live Demo and Viewing.”
The next event, December 13, will have Rabbi Moshe Perlmutter presenting on “Kashering – Techniques and Tools of the Trade – a Visual Presentation,” at 8:30 p.m. Next, at 9:30, Rabbi Avrohom Gordimer will speak on “The Dairy Industry – Consumer and Industrial Issues.”
