Rabbi Moshe Elefant is the chief executive officer of OU Kosher. He succeeded Rabbi Menachem Genack, who retired in July 2026. Rabbi Elefant oversees the kosher certification and regular inspection of over 14,000 facilities in 116 countries, supported by 850 field representatives, 60 rabbinic coordinators and 80 administrative staff members.
In addition to leading OU Kosher, Rabbi Elefant is a world-renowned scholar of Jewish law. His daily lectures on AllDaf.org, a popular app and website, are followed by thousands of listeners around the world. During the two weeks leading up to Passover—one of the most important times of the year for kosher consumers—Rabbi Elefant appears regularly on radio programs, answering hundreds of questions about Passover products and the holiday’s special dietary laws.
Rabbi Elefant is deeply committed to the success of OU Kosher’s certified companies. He is readily available to answer questions and help ensure that companies have the guidance and resources they need. He can be contacted at elefantm@ou.org.
