Rabbi Donneal Epstein

Rabbinic Coordinator

Rabbi Epstein has been on the OU Kosher staff since 1995. He formerly headed the fish department and now manages the New Companies Department which is responsible for setting  up all new business accounts. On average the department receives about 25 applications each week.  Rabbi Epstein is in regular contact with many of these companies by phone while helping to move them from application to kosher-certified. He works closely with OU Kosher’s products and ingredients departments which are responsible for reviewing all production and ingredient information.

Born and reared in Bridgeport Connecticut amidst what he fondly recalls as the “rolling hills of New England, where the foliage can melt the stoutest heart,”  he was educated at the New Haven Hebrew Day school in the Chaim Berlin Rabbinical seminary where he was ordained in 1993. In addition, he studied in Israel at the Yeshiva Pachad Yitzchok.

Married in 1989 Rabbi Epstein has five sons, with whom he enjoys playing ball, in addition to his studies in Talmud,  philosophy and  history.

He lives in Brooklyn New York.
