Chocolate Syrup Cake

Ingredients
- ½ cup pareve margarine
- 1 cup sugar
- 4 eggs
- 1 cup flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 1 (16 oz.) can chocolate syrup
Icing: - ½ cup pareve margarine or butter
- 1 cup sugar
- ⅓ cup milk or nondairy substitute
- ½ cup chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F.
- In the bowl of an electric mixer cream together the margarine and sugar; then add eggs one at a time and beat well after each addition.
- Sift together the flour, baking powder and salt.
- Add the dry mixture to the creamed mixture and mix to combine. Then add the chocolate syrup and mix to combine.
- Pour the batter into a 9X13 pan and bake for 50 minutes. Do not over bake.
- Ice while hot.
Icing: - In a saucepan, combine the margarine, milk and sugar together and cook over a medium heat for two to three minutes until the milk is warm but not boiling.
- Add the chocolate chips and remove the pan from the heat. Beat the mixture until the chips are melted and the frosting is smooth.
- Pour the mixture over the warm cake. Let cool and serve.
