Kosher Alert CVS Antacid

Unauthorized OU

CVS Strawberry Flavored and Assorted Fruit Flavored Antacid contains carmine, an ingredient that the Orthodox Union treats as non-kosher.  Some of those antacids were mistakenly labeled with an OU symbol.  Corrective action has been implemented.

Kosher Alert Spartan Crackers

Mistaken OU-P

The Orthodox Union certifies a variety of Spartan brand crackers, cookies and wafers, some are certified pareve and others are dairy.  Some packaging for these products were mistakenly labeled with an OU-P.   These products are not kosher for Passover.  The latest ‘use by’ date for the mislabeled products is February 2014.  Corrective actions were implemented.

Kosher Alert Shurfine Chili Lime Almonds

Missing D-Dairy designation

The Orthodox Union certifies Shurfine Chili Lime Almonds as an OU D-Dairy product.  This product contains dairy ingredients as indicated in the allergen and ingredient statements.  Some packaging are labeled with an OU without the D-Dairy designation.  Corrective actions were implemented.

Kosher Alert Fanta Pina Colada Concentrate

The Coca-Cola Company manufactures a wide range of concentrates which are used by 7-Eleven in the production of Slurpees.  These concentrates are under the supervision of the Orthodox Union.  The Orthodox Union, however, does not certify Slurpees sold at 7-Eleven stores.

One of these concentrates is Fanta Pina Colada.  This concentrate is certified OU-Dairy.  In some 7-Eleven stores placards for this product are on display.  The placards contain an error in that the “Dairy” designation of the concentrate has been omitted.  Corrective action is being taken.

Winking Cow cheeses and dairy products are being sold with an unauthorized OU-D mark.  These products are not certified by the Orthodox Union.  Corrective measures are being implemented.

Kosher Alert Jalapeno Cheddar Cream Cheese Spread

Issue:

Product with the date codes USE BY 061314 AND USE BY 070514 bears an OU-D and mistakenly contains non-kosher cheese. The product has been withdrawn. All other Giant and Stop & Shop cream cheese bearing an OU-D are not affected.
