Mislabeled Product

Winn Dixie Woven Wheat Crackers are certified by the Orthodox Union as a kosher pareve product. Some packaging mistakenly bear an OU P symbol. This product is not kosher for Passover. The mislabeled products are being withdrawn from the marketplace.

Unauthorized OU

Some jars of Sera Grape Molasses mistakenly bear an unauthorized OU. This particular Sera product is not certified by the Orthodox Union. Corrective actions have been implemented.

Missing D Dairy designation

Springfield Semi Sweet Chocolate Chips are certified as an OU-D Dairy product. The product contains milk derivatives. Recently, some bags were printed with a plain OU, without the D Dairy designation. The mislabeled products are sold primarely in Southern California. The mislabeled products are being withdrawn from the marketplace.

Due to supply chain issues, the OU symbol has temporarily been removed. As always, consumers are urged to verify the kosher symbol on each and every product.

Issue: Unauthorized OU

Manhattan, an alcoholic drink manufactured by Francovich Distillers, bears an unauthorized OU symbol. The Orthodox Union does not certify Francovich Distillers. Corrective action has been implemented.

Issue: Missing D – Dairy designation

Castella Zesty Pepps Stuffed With Garlic Herb Cream Cheese is certified by the Orthodox Union as an OU-D Dairy product. Some labels mistakenly bear the OU symbol without the ‘D’ Dairy designation. This product is sold at Costco. It contains dairy, as clearly indicated in the product name. Corrective measures have been implemented.

Wegmans Gluten Free Double Chocolate Brownie Mix is certified by the Orthodox Union as an OU-D dairy product. Some products were labeled with an OU mark, without the D – Dairy designation. This product was withdrawn from the marketplace. Consumers who purchased this product prior to the withdrawal should consider it a dairy product.

Issue: Unauthorized OU

Terana, a Mexican food distributor, placed a Spanish label with an OU symbol on a non certified imported Cirio Ragu Bolognese sauce product. The Orthodox Union does not certify this Cirio sauce. This product was sold in Mexico and corrective measures have been implemented.

Airheads Party Mix is a bag of candies that contains taffies and lollipops. Some of those bags mistakenly bear an unauthorized OU symbol. The Airheads taffies are certied kosher by the Orthodox Union and each individual taffy wrapper bears an OU Symbol. The Airheads lollipops, however, are not certified by the Orthodox Union and they do not bear an OU Symbol. Corrective measures have been implemented.

Praline Pecans Granules from Ready Roast contain butter, as indicated on the label. This product is certified by the Orthodox Union as an OU D -Dairy product. Some labels bear a plain OU without the D – Dairy designation. Corrective measures have been implemented.
