Products: Varieties of frosting
Company: Aldi Inc.
The OU currently certifies a variety of Aldi frostings as OU Pareve, including the Milk Chocolate and the Cream Cheese frosting. These products correctly bear an OU symbol. However, the same products, (from a previous supplier) are available without the OU and are non-kosher. As the older supply is depleted, this problem will be self-corrected.
As always, consumers should check that each and every product has the OU symbol, and not assume that since one product has the OU , all of the same variety will have the OU
Products: Fat Free Ranch Dressing
Company: Sysco Corporation
Missing D- Dairy Designation
The Orthodox Union certifies Sysco Classic Fat Free Ranch Dressing as an OU D – Dairy product. Some packaging was printed with an plain OU symbol as opposed to an OU D – Dairy symbol. Corrective actions are being implemented.
Products: Creamy Italian Dressing
Company: Bay Valley Foods, Oak Brook IL
Missing D – Dairy Designation
The Orthodox Union certifies Cains Creamy Italian Dressing as an OU D – Dairy product. Some labels for the 1 Gallon containers were printed with a plain OU symbol, without the D – Dairy designation. Corrective actions are being implemented.
Products: Smoky Bacon & Blue Cheese Almonds
Company: Don Sebastiani & Sons, Sonoma CA
The Orthodox Union does not certify any U Gottabee Nutz products. U Gottabee Nutz Smoky Bacon & Blue Chees Almonds bear an unauthorized OU. Corrective actions are being implemented.
Products: Blackberry Cabernet Sorbetto
Company: Ciao Bella Sorbetto
The Orthodox Union does not certify Ciao Bella Blackberry Cabernet Sorbetto. This products bears an unauthorized OU mark. Corrective actions are being implemented.
Products: Babies' Magic Tea
Company: Secrets of Tea
The Orthodox Union does not certify Secrets of Tea products. Their Babies’ Magic label bears an unauthorized OU symbol. Corrective actions are being implemented.
Products: Various breads
Company: Bimbo Bakeries USA
The Orthodox Union does not certify dairy breads. Recently, many breads manufactured by Bimbo Bakeries USA, including some Arnold brand breads, were reformulated and now contain dairy. As a result, breads that were previously certified by the Orthodox Union no longer carry the OU Symbol. Consumers should look for the OU symbol to ascertain that a product is kosher.

Products requiring Passover certification must bear the OU-P or ‘OU Kosher For Passover’ designation. Some products, like Health Garden Xylitol, come in both OU and OU P varieties. Consumers should carefully look for the OU P designation to ascertain that the product is kosher for Passover.
In the 2017 edition of the OU Guide for Passover (page 100) Nutrisource Benefiber is listed as approved for those who are ill. The correct name for this product is Nutrisource Fiber. It should be noted that a product called Benefiber, manufactured by Glaxo Smith Kline (GSK) contains wheat dextrin (as listed in the ingredients label) and is chametz and one should not eat or possess this product on Passover. Another product called Benefiber, manufactured by Novartis and sold in Israel, contains guar gum (as listed on the ingredients label) and is chametz-free.
Products: Pork Cracklings with Salsa
Company: Snak King, City of Industry CA
The Orthodox Union does not certify El Sabroso Pork Cracklings. This product is sometimes sold with an inserted packet of OU certified Salsa which bears an OU Symbol. Consumers should not assume that the OU on the salsa packet, which may be visible through the Pork Cracklings bag, applies to the entire product. Corrective actions are being implemented.
