    Issue:
    Product has in the past been certified as OU-Dairy. It has been reformulated and is now OU-parve. Although the label incorrectly bears the words "made on same equipment as products containing milk", product is in fact parve.

    Any product still bearing an OU-D is Dairy.

    Issue:
    This product, sold in single serving packets, is certified as OU-D (the ingredient panel lists whey as an ingredient). The dairy designation has been inadvertently omitted. Future packaging will be revised.

    Due to changes in production, these products will no longer be certified. Customers should only buy products that still bear the OU symbol.

    Big Nachos + Free Chili and Cheese
    Issue:
    7-Eleven sells pre-packaged nachos in a clear plastic container. The label states “7-Eleven Big Nachos.” This product is certified OU-D. On the label, there appears the statement “Free Chili and Cheese.” When a customer purchases this product in 7-Eleven, he is entitled to open the lid and add chili and cheese from the counter. Consumers should be aware that the chili and cheese that are added are not OU certified.

    Issue:
    Shop Rite Round Tortilla Chips are kosher certified by the Orthodox Union. During manufacture, several cases of non-certified chips were erroneously packed into the Round Tortilla bags. The non-certified product can be identified by it’s triangular shape, distinctive orange color, and date code of 18OCT04 Y2E2. Affected product has been withdrawn from the marketplace.

    (a refrigerated item sold at Starbucks).
    Issue:
    Product mistakenly bears an OU symbol. The dip is not certifed as kosher by the Orthodox Union. Future packaging will not bear the OU symbol.

  • Hellman’s Mayonnaise

    Unilever Bestfoods, Englewood Cliffs, NJ
    Issue:
    Some jars of OU certified mayonnaise have been distributed with a promotional insert containing either Knorr brand Vegetable soup, dip, and recipe mix or Lowry’s Taco Spices and Seasoning Mix. These inserts are not certified kosher by the Orthodox Union.

    Orthodox Union policy requires that the OU symbol be removed from kosher product containing non-kosher sample inserts. Corrective action is being taken.
